1. Information We Collect
Information you give us directly
- Account and order information: name, email address, phone number, billing address, and shipping address, when you check out (as a guest or with an account) or create an account.
- Payment information: when you pay by credit or debit card, your card details are entered directly into our payment processor, Stripe, and are not stored on our servers. We retain only the order total and a payment confirmation reference.
- Planner customization details: the choices you make while designing a planner — cover art, add-ons, and schedule-sheet format. If you choose a personalized schedule sheet, this may include a student's or child's first name, along with subjects, chores, weekly focus labels, or a quote you choose to have printed on the planner. This information is provided voluntarily by you (the purchasing adult) and is used solely to produce your personalized product — see "Children's Privacy" below.
- Contact and inquiry forms: if you contact us, request a bulk order quote, or apply for a missionary/ministry discount, we collect what you submit — which may include your name, email, organization or ministry affiliation, country or field of service, and the details of your message.
- Newsletter sign-up: if you subscribe to updates, we collect your email address for that purpose.
- Coupon and affiliate use: if you place an order using a coupon code or through an affiliate's referral link, we record that on the order.
Information collected automatically
- Order and account history: we keep a permanent record of your orders and, if you create an account, your order history, so you can view past purchases.
- Cookies: we use a small number of first-party cookies required for the Site to function — to remember what's in your cart, to keep you logged in if you have an account, for basic site performance/caching, and (if you arrive via an affiliate's link) a referral cookie that lasts 30 days and simply records which affiliate referred your visit. We do not use third-party advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.
- Basic technical/log data: like most websites, our server automatically logs standard information such as IP address, browser type, and pages visited, for security and troubleshooting purposes.
- Analytics: we use a self-hosted, privacy-focused analytics tool (Plausible) to understand overall site traffic. It does not use cookies and does not collect or store any information that identifies you personally — it reports only aggregate statistics (e.g., page views, general location by country/region).
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Process and fulfill your orders, including producing your personalized planner, calculating tax and shipping, and getting your order to you;
- Communicate with you about your order (confirmations, shipping updates, customer service);
- Maintain your account and let you view your order history, if you create one;
- Respond to inquiries, quote requests, and discount-eligibility applications;
- Send you updates or promotional communications, but only if you've opted in (e.g., by subscribing to our newsletter) — you can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any marketing email;
- Administer our affiliate and coupon programs;
- Detect and prevent fraud, abuse, and security issues;
- Improve the Site and our products.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with third parties for their own advertising purposes.
3. Who We Share Information With
We share information only as needed to run our business, with the following service providers, each of whom is only permitted to use your information to provide their service to us:
- Stripe — processes payments. Stripe receives your payment details directly and handles them under its own security standards and privacy policy.
- Our planner customization service (Convex) — the interactive planner designer is powered by a backend service (Convex) that receives your customization choices (including a student's name, if you provide one) in order to calculate pricing and save your design so it can be added to your order.
- Zoho and Mailgun — deliver the transactional emails we send you (order confirmations, receipts, account notices) on our behalf.
- Shipping carriers — we provide your shipping address to the carrier and shipping tools (such as PirateShip and USPS or other carriers) needed to print a label and deliver your order.
- Our affiliate program — is run entirely on our own servers; referral and commission records are never shared outside our business.
- Legal requirements — we may disclose information if required by law, subpoena, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of A Plan in Place, our customers, or others.
If we ever undergo a business transition such as a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, customer information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to this policy.
4. Children's Privacy
The Site is intended for use by parents and adults, not by children. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13.
When you personalize a planner with your child's name or other details, you (the parent or purchasing adult) are voluntarily providing that information to us for the sole purpose of producing your physical product. We do not use a child's name or other personalization details for marketing, do not build profiles from them, and do not share them with any third party beyond what's needed to produce and ship your order (see Section 3).
If you believe a child has provided us with personal information outside the context of a parent-directed order, please contact us and we will delete it.
5. Data Retention
We keep order and account records permanently (not just for a limited window) so that you and we have a lasting record of your purchase history, consistent with standard business, accounting, and tax record-keeping practices. If you'd like your account or personal information deleted, contact us (Section 8) and we will honor your request except where we're required to retain records by law (e.g., tax records).
6. Your Rights and Choices
- Marketing communications: you can unsubscribe from promotional emails at any time via the unsubscribe link, without affecting transactional emails related to an order you've placed.
- Access, correction, or deletion: you can contact us at any time to request a copy of the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it.
- California residents: if you are a California resident, you may have additional rights under California law (such as the CCPA) to know what personal information we collect and to request deletion. Contact us using the information below to make a request.
- Do Not Track: our Site does not currently respond to browser "Do Not Track" signals, though as noted above, we don't use third-party advertising trackers.
7. Data Security
We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information, including using a payment processor (Stripe) that handles card data under industry security standards, and restricting access to customer data to what's needed to run our business. However, no method of transmission or storage over the internet is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
